GlenStar Workforce Development Corporation is a 501(c)(3)  nonprofit organization formed in 2015 and funded by tax-deductible donations, sponsorships, grants, contracts, fundraisers and other resources.   Our facility has moved from Historic Stafford Offices  at 2839 North Main and is temporarily located at 2419 War Admiral Drive in Stafford, TX.  The hours of operation are 9:00am - 5:00pm, Monday – Friday (by appointment only).  

 

The program is designed for the following purposes:

 

  • To provide specialized vocational training, education, customized and supported employment services for our targeted audiences of individuals with disabilities (cognitive, physical, learning, developmental), at-risk youth, veterans, homeless, senior citizens and ex-offenders.

 

  • To create a dynamic staff of professionals and skilled individuals selected from our targeted audiences and allowing these individuals to utilize their talents and expertise to enhance the success of the program.

  • To support businesses by 1) providing employers with diligent, well-trained and reliable workforce that is customized to meet the demands of businesses and 2) focusing on providing quality service and customer satisfaction.

 

  • To extend our employment services to other agencies with similar interests and build a more sustainable path to future expansion.

 

We assist individuals with preparing resumes, completing job applications, dress codes, mock interviews and marketing skills. An on-going support service is provided to help clients maintain a job and be successful in the workplace.

While integrating into the workforce, clients are expected to develop the following personal and social skills: 

 

  • Interpersonal/Social skills for getting along with supervisors and co-workers; social service skills for public jobs

  • Communications skills for listening, speaking clearly; the ability to follow job and safety instructions

  • Developing flexibility skills for working on various tasks and teams

  • Organizational skills for prioritizing and completing assignments

  • Problem-solving by making decisions and taking responsibility; acquiring the ability to work alone without supervision or as part of a team

  • Attendance and punctuality

  • Trustworthiness and reliability

  • Personal Hygiene for appearance and dressing appropriately for work

  • Health and Fitness to promote healthy eating for improved mental and physical health, stretching and exercising for endurance and healthy living

  • Productivity for working efficiently, quickly and meeting deadlines

  • Spiritual Guidance to enhance enthusiasm for developing higher potential
